A lot of stuff has happened this year but it still feels like it’s flown by. Apart from Brokenfor all three of us have become “working men”. That is: A strange phenomena when you realise you have to find a job to support the incessant purchasing of musical equipment…and other things. It’s a weird feeling that you have to occasionally balance “a job” with making music and vice versa, but it’s a necessity to keep us going as a band and I personally am very greatful to have a job/source of income in the current economical climate.

I think our journey as a band has twisted and turned more than ever before this year. In January we really didn’t know what to do with our songs as we had little money to spend on good studio time, but we pushed on because we knew there was something there. Amazingly over half of our CD costs were funded by friends, family and other good Christian people we know. It gave us such an encouraging push knowing that other people thought our music and ministry was valuable.

During writing and recording, I especially, find it hard to leave the music alone. It’s always running through my brain. Even in the mixing stages of making a CD I can’t sit still so the few months when mixes and masters were flying back and forth between us and Chris and Sanj it was a struggle to really feel happy with the music we had made. When the EP was completed and released and we had so many great responses even from radio stations and “musos” there was a great weight lifted off of our shoulders which let us get out there and play gigs with a great enthusiasm.

Now we’re back to the start of the writing and idea making stage, which has a strange aura about it. We experiment with new sounds and styles and subsequently write new songs. The new songs can feel weird at first but you know the ones that are best because they stick and become part of the song family of the band. So expect to hear some new songs as 2012 progresses!

Anyway here ends my rambling. I expect more will ensue next year!

Thanks to all those who come out to our gig at the NFLC Fireworks display last Saturday! It was great to see a few friendly faces around!

In a couple of weeks we will be recording some demos of our new material, but that’s all hush-hush so don’t tell anyone!

It was such a privilege to lead worship morning and evening for a week in the 11-14s youth venue, Club One. God was really working in the lives of the guys there and it was great to be a part of seeing it happen! The team in Club One, and indeed across all of the youth venues, were brilliant and a joy to work with. Throughout the week our venue also had a fantastic line up of guest speakers with bang-on messages for the young people.

It was also great to be a small part of what is a massive festival, this year 7000 people were on site – amazing!

So, today I’ve got my Club One t-shirt on in memory of such a great week!

Welcome to our new website (if you’re reading this on our new site!). As you will hopefully know by now we are releasing our new EP this Friday (15/July) at Norwich Central Baptist Church!

We’ve spent the last 10 (or so!) months preparing for this release and we’re really pleased with the recordings and we hope that you will be too! We recorded 4 of the tracks with producers Chris Taylor and Sanj Rajo in Southampton during Easter in their wonderful studio Purple Square Studios. And we recorded the little piano song ourselves as well as the bonus remix! The CD was also fantastically mastered by our friend James from OneMillionMangos.com. We’re also very thankful to the many people who have funded and supported us to make this CD, without you none of this would have been possible!

The first place you can get the new EP is on Friday night @ NCBC and soon after that you will be able to download it from many of the usual online stores (iTunes, AmazonMP3, 7digital, etc.) and order a hard copy from our websites!  We recommend you get a hard copy as the design looks great!

So, hopefully we will see lots of you on Friday night (more details here) or if not, we hope you enjoy our new music and we hope to see you at a gig soon!

We’re Brokenfor, we formed when we were at the ages of 11 and 12. We couldn’t really play our instruments and we didn’t really know why we were in a band, but we liked it, so we had a go.
That was 8 years ago and we’re still making music, playing instruments and having fun but we’ve found the reason why we do what we do. We’ve got a passion for seeing the Gospel affect the lives of young people. Making music is the way we release that passion.
The Gospel is not just about what’s been and done, but what’s happening now and what is to come. We make music that we love, inspired by the artists that we listen to everyday, injected with a message of hope, not just so it can be enjoyed now, but so it can inspire the next generation to love and be loved.

This is where you come in. We’ve got some new songs and we really want to record them so that you can hear them, your friends can hear them, the girl next door can hear them, they lad down the street can hear them, the kids in the playground, the young people in the Churches. You get the idea. But, we need your help! To do these songs justice, we need to spend quite a few pennies on making a new EP!

It’s been a bit quiet lately hasn’t it!

We’ve been working hard these last months since the release of our debut EP. Over the summer we’re laying low and working on some new songs and ideas which we hope to have ready to perform in the new school year. So if you don’t hear much from us you know it’s because we’re busy preparing something exciting!

Speaking of the next school year (sorry, it’s a bit early to be thinking about all that again isn’t it!), anyway, starting in September two of our band members, Ben and Dan, will be joining Norwich Youth For Christ to spend a year volunteering whilst Dicky finishes his last year at University. Some interesting ideas are already in the pipeline regarding what Ben and Dan will be getting up to! We feel passionate about getting out there to make a difference in the lives of young people in and around Norwich and further afield, whether that is through our music or through the youth work we will be involved with.

So keep checking back to see how we’re getting on! We’re so looking forward to what this next year’s going to bring and we hope you are too!

We’re glad to be officially announcing that we will be releasing a new 6 track CD in February 2010. This is if everything goes as planned, which we pray it does. The CD is currently being recorded in our home studio and we are really excited for you to hear the new sounds that we are creating! The album contains songs that we have been writing for the past year or so. We hope that they will inspire, energize, challenge and help you in your lives.
